The Master, posing as a rural vicar, summons a cloven-hoofed demon in a church crypt. Seeking to gain the ancient titan’s demonic power, he gathers a cult and then corrupts or controls the residents of Devil’s End to bow to his will. Dark elemental forces begin to disturb the village on the eve of May Day: unexplained murders, a stone gargoyle come to life, and a nigh-impenetrable infernal energy dome. With the Master fully prepared to destroy the Earth, the Doctor and UNIT – aided by a benevolent practitioner of witchcraft – battle the wicked rites of a secret science wielded by an alien from another world.

First Broadcast between the 22nd May – 19th June 1971

This was shot in the charming town of Aldbourne. As some of you may know, the 101st Airborne was based here during WWII, and I visited this town during a “Band of Brothers” tour. It was only later that I learned this Doctor Who episode was filmed there.

I always liked looking at the scenery of this particular episode. I would love to visit there, especially go on that band of Brothers tour. My uncle was based in Norfolk during World War II, assigned to a B24. Those are two areas that I definitely would like to visit. Thank you.

There’s no such thing as magic.
    It’s aliens, as always.
And a young professional soldier being beaten up by a Morris Dancer deserves a court martial.
