When money talks !!

I do like how the media is combining in all the gang violence stats which is what makes up the overwhelming majority of the mass shootings, but only shows the rare instances of lone gunman in the video to make you think these are the types of mass shootings happening “hundreds of times a year”. If you took away all the gang/inner city stats there would be less than double digit “mass shootings” each year. You can always count on context from the media, not fear mongering to further their agenda….oh wait…
As a conservative leaning person in many ways, my take is the following – I do believe that gun ownership rights should not be denied, HOWEVER we definitely need much better controls and regulations , especially for the deadlier weapons capable of mass harm. They should not be so easy to get into the hands of just anyone. I believe if you want an ar-15 or similar type of weapon that you should jump through some serious hoops and extensive and lengthy background checks to get one, compared to say a basic handgun. I am willing to give up some freedoms for safety. At the same time I want to be able to own a firearm to protect my family and my home. The RIGHT disappoints me on this issue, but it is largely because they are so worried about how the LEFT goes too far with everything they want. They are afraid their guns will be taken away completely. Like so many issues we butt heads on, if we could find middle ground we could make much better progress amongst all of our issues. Challenge YOUR side, as I do. I agree with the LEFT on a lot, but disagree with them often as well. It is not all or nothing, and the longer we keep digging in our heels on sides, the longer we will see no positive changes.
nothingtoseehere “onviously” I missed nothing, gun ownership is the right, and by the standards of guns at the time and also the state of mental health when those rights were established, that made perfect sense. Some guns are far deadlier now, and in my opinion some of them don’t serve a necessary purpose in the hands of “just anyone” with money because they were born here. Yes they have a right to a firearm, but they don’t sell rocket launchers at the local Walmart either. But what if I want one as a right I claim under the 2nd amendment? Aside from that you are clearly missing the bigger picture by trying to divert attention to an argument of rights vs privileges.
These are senseless killings that should never have happened, when are they actually going to do something? A new school year is soon approaching what if it happens again this is terrifying! I don’t understand and never will why these senseless crimes continue to happen its angering. No place is safe for children, women and men, not a church, mall, grocery store, any school, concert, movie theater, hospital, the list goes on. There are lots of sorry’s and that’s about it, nothing has been done to prevent these senseless occurrences. No laws have been changed for banning or changing the age limit on high powered guns. So all of us are left wondering who’s next, it’s not if it’s when? A parent said that his words, his child was killed by such a weapon at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde Texas.
most shootings are done with handguns, and if you are referring to an AR being ‘high powered’ then you, just like those trying to push for gun control, have zero knowledge of firearms.
It is always Walmart…. Michael Moore nobody listen to you…just croc tears allright…history repeating itself….it is getting worst and worst..wondering where the next shooting news is gonna come from..
and still no mention of the millions of defensive uses of a firearm each year. even with the lowest numbers, it’s still at least a 10 to 1 ratio of those saved compared to those murdered.
There were 1,198 documented incidents of defensive use of a firearm last year. Not even Yemen has that many defensive uses a year. Not even the Wild West was like that.
@elenacorinne would love to see your source for that number. You ever wonder why the cdc removed the study from their website?
Definitely we need to stop this. Epic children passed away due to school shootings.
