About time!! Been time for Tim Cook to go for years.
Apple’s silicon is already the best consumer grade hardware to run inference on very large models with its high bandwidth unified memory architecture: for instance the Mac Studio M3 Ultra with 512GB RAM is able to run absurdly large models and can be clustered using DDMA over Thunderbolt 5 to run models requiring 2TB of RAM. And that’s just the M3 Ultra. Wait for the rumored upcoming M5 Ultra… Apple is clearly banking on on-device, local AI hence them not investing as heavily in data centers. They are actually ahead of the curve.

If they’re partnering with Gemini, they might as well get rid of the crappy Apple Maps and switch to Google Maps
We don’t need more AI.
