UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing growing pressure to step down after more than 70 of 403 Members of Parliament from the governing Labour Party called for him to set out a timetable for his departure. The rebellion follows last week’s local elections, which saw Starmer’s Labour lose control of the Welsh parliament and almost three of every five English council seats it was defending. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is preparing make a statement to the House of Commons on Monday to address a fresh dispute over the senior official he fired over the appointment of Peter Mandelson as US ambassador.
