    there are no permanent friends or enemies in international relations, only permanent interests. Anyone who thought the US would continue backing the SDF after ISIS was defeated was just deluding themselves. And calling the SDF an American ally is tenous at best when they have previously collaborated with Russia and the Assad regime as well as having ties to the US-designated terrorist organization PKK
