Shannon Tweed lived 14 months at the Playboy Mansion, 1981-1982, as Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend. Her story begins on a mink ranch in rural Canada, and a string of odd jobs in her youth, that led to her winning Miss Ottawa beauty pageant and testing for Playboy magazine three times. After being named as Miss November 1981, she finds herself at the Mansion for her first Midsummer Nights Dream party … she later moves in and starts the adventure of her career as one of the most recognizable B-Film actresses of her time. Its crazy that most of these women just got a phone call from Hugh Hefner or Mary or someone there to just leave their lives at the drop of a dime and move into the playboy mansion. So many. I just watched a video about Kendra Wilkinson and she literally left her boyfriend and apartment in the snap of a finger. I have never gotten a call from a man I hardly know to just leave my life and move into their house
Playboy really was a stepping stone for greater and better opportunities. Shannon seems like a smart woman w good head on her shoulders. Beauty and brains.
While I loathe the patriarchal double standard of The Boys Club and Hef I definitely respect Shannon for knowing exactly what everything was all about including Hef and doing it all her own way. She seemed to remain level headed.

I might be miss remembering, but I think Holly said on a Girls Next Level episode that Shannon Tweed was the PMOTY who started the $100,000 and car prize. It used to be a bunch of different random prizes and I think I remember the story being Shannon said she only needed money and a car or something. I can’t remember which episode, though, because I also remember her saying that one of the prizes was a Bob Mackie dress.

I really love this women of Playboy series. I love Holly and Bridget and have always been intrigued by the lives of the other women and why the came to the mansion. Thank you for putting in all the work to put these together 💖
I think the big reason Hugh Hefner stayed friends with Shannon, and kept putting her in the magazine after she left, was Gene Simmons.
Gene is in the band Kiss, which was an extremely popular rock band. Shortly after Shannon left the Mansion she started a life long partnership with Gene, and they had two children together And they eventually got married.
It’s always been said that Hef loved celebrities. He was ridiculously impressed by them. He loved the clout he thought it brought him to be close friends with Shannon and Gene.
It seems like a lot of of the women of Playboy came from Canada
