In a new song “Home” that Sara wrote after listening to Anderson’s talk with Stephen Colbert, she sings, “What is broken cannot heal ’till it’s known and loved by name.” In this moving conversation she shares “Home” for the first time and talks with Anderson about the “medicinal” nature of sharing one’s grief with others.

Oh my, thank you so much for sharing this song and your tears, I was right there with you. It captures so poignantly what it is like to navigate through loss. I lost my husband in 2024 to stage 4 lymphoma. He was the most amazing person, and I realize that tears make room for laughter, and that I will always miss him. I really would like to recommend another song, Paper Airplanes, by Ruth B. It most captures what it feels like to lose my north star. Music brings us to a safe place where we can connect to our pain and joy!
Anderson, please reach out to Kathy. Difficulties are bad until there’s no way to repair them.
Anderson, I just love you… that’s all.
Thank you Anderson and thank you Sara. Thank you for the light you share by being authentic, brave, present and willing to offer your gifts to the world.
What an interesting person she is. The depth of her self understanding and her expression of self is refreshing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I can’t wait to see the documentary
Keep making awesome videos
Oh the video with Gavin DESTROYED me.
My God…Anderson what a BEAUTIFUL conversation. Waiting anxiously for Sara’s documentary
Sara you continue to amaze me! I’ve seen you in concert at The Paramount, saw you in Waitress. Love every song you have created. But this…. your transparency, kindness & compassion; your empathy. So beautiful. I’ll always be a huge fan of you.
So wonderful. Love you Sara, love the new album. When my Mom passed in 2016, i could not stop listening to “Hold my Heart” from your Kaleidoscope Heart album. Your music has always been so soothing. Much love! xxx
I love what she says about her anti-depressant. I’ve been on one for 30 years. I still feel things fully – there’s no numbness. I just don’t sink it to the murderous mud. I still grieve and giggle. I wish social media influencers would stop denigrating them. They saved my life after my fiancé and my dad died suddenly or horrifically in the span of 3 years. I went off my anti-d this Spring because I was “influenced”. I had no withdrawal. None, zippo. Maybe I was lucky. I’m going back on it, though. The mud is grabbing me. I’m glad they’re available.
Anderson is a clown. This guy is still around ?..
OMG. ❤ my heart ❤️ breaks wide open ❤️🩹
Great conversation. I lost my parents quite young (at 36 yrs old). My father was 58 yrs old and mom at 63 yrs old). While I wasn’t a child the loss was just as painful because my children at that time (ages 7 and 5 yrs old) lost their grandparents. They would not truly experience two of the funniest and loveliest people on the planet. You expect one day to lose your parents but you really don’t think much about the emotional repercussions that your kids will experience losing their grandparents. It can certainly be significant and life changing. I mourn their loss.
