I do agree this was a bogus nothing sandwich. However I do find it difficult to understand why people don’t tell BOTH numbers since yeah, it’s more expensive upfront. But I think it’s also to be said that sometimes new to you recipes are going to cost the at store cost if you don’t like the food you end up making, didn’t cook it correctly because it might be a new to you technique in cooking and or there aren’t creative ways you can think to use the remaining ingredients. All that to say, the CNN guy could have probably bought frozen cakes for around the same price point they are taking about to make their point even better (ie maybe it’s cheaper for premade cakes). But yeah overall this premise was so flawed. The math ain’t mathing.
He’s an idiot. Salmon or any seafood prices will most definitely vary by a lot of things. Prices are higher for those places that the salmon has to travel farther to, wild vs farmed, time of year, type of salmon, grocery chain. I can go to Aldi’s and get the same type of seafood at almost half the cost than the Giant across the street. DUH!

I just did a cost analysis on my Asian beef breakfast bowls. This is exactly how you analyze a meal. How much do the bulk ingredients cost, then how much of that cost goes into a single bowl.

This is so true when I became a single parent I worried over nothing much because I was terrier of everything lol but then I discovered buying fresh and cooking from scratch was waaaaaaaaaaaay much cheaper and living to a budget but making sure we got the right food and I got the kids involved it was awesome and we ate rather well sure we had our treats but living on a proper nutritious budget diet is hard at first but it IS doable great video Andrew 👍🏻
