Priscilla Presley got candid about the age gap between her and Elvis.
At the Venice Film Festival press conference for Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biopic, Priscilla, on Monday, the former wife of the late rock star, 78, opened up about meeting Elvis when he was 24 and she was 14, which the film depicts.

In Europe a 14 year old girl is more mature then a 20 year old girl in the USA and back then in the 40s the 50s and the 60s it was very normal for a 14-year-old to get married. And another thing do not forget that her parents mother and stepfather did not object they even encouraged it and I think you know why if you don’t this is the answe 💰💰💰💰

She has said over and over that she begged Elvis to and he said a woman should be saved for marriage but if nothing happened why does she keep talking about it all the time.
Let’s see…Elvis met Pricilla when she was 14. They didn’t have sex. He then left Germany in March of 1960. Sadly, he wasn’t a very good “groomer,” waiting 3 years until March of 1963 to ask her parents to have her move to Memphis. Two months later she turned 18. However, even though she has said she was willing, Elvis insisted she save herself for marriage…which came 3 years later when Pricilla was 21 and Elvis was 32. Now, call me crazy, but I’m not sure an almost 18-year-old woman counts as a child. I also don’t see that getting married to a legal adult of 21 when you’re 11 years older is a crime. Still, if Priscilla wants to claim that Elvis was a pedophile who victimized her, I’d say her $50 million net worth is probably more than she’d win in a lawsuit.

You either believe Priscilla’s story or you don’t. I think it’s a very sad film for many reasons, not least that he controlled her in every way and didn’t change anything when she was upset by his ways. There is the question of sex with a young girl which I don’t know too much about- a lot of people ‘fool around’ without having full sex before marriage, but also the fact she was isolated in that big house, wasn’t allowed to tour with him or go on movie sets. She allowed the relationship to continue which means she was a victim. I’m just pleased she got out eventually and could make her own choices and live her life. Choices made in teenage years often look bizarre when you look back on them. I would have insisted on moving with her to Memphis if I was her parents and being there to support her more. Money is available so that could have happened. Everyone blames the parents but Priscilla wanted to go. She needed someone to have her back though. And tell her it was ok to leave when she has emotions that are heart breaking to see. Priscilla did a great job with her daughter, RIP. If you haven’t lived through a life like this then you can only listen to her story and empathise. Sofia C has made Elvis out to be a ‘villain’- she said she didn’t want to- but if that’s what the story is then it’s truthful and good on her for sticking to Priscilla’s memoir closely.
