I get it- why buy an old house with all of its character and then modernize it with all white and gray the open floor concept? Let it be what it should be! Restored with its own character! I wonder where they went with all of the beautiful woodwork, doors, windows and stained glass? ugh.

When she said “we’re removing the bay window” I thought you should have bought a different house. And then taking out the radiators and “we’re going to have to find a different way to heat the house” – well now you’re committing to a pretty big uptick in the remodeling budget.

The fireplace needs some color. Leave the mantle white but a medium gray or brownish red on the brick will make it a focal point and bring something more to the entire room. Beautiful work!
