I didn’t think a silent movie could be so “expressive”, but the acting was wonderful especially the major characters. Also, what a great rendition of the earthquake considering the tools available at the time (or any time).

What a load of racist bigoted crap. Truly disgusting and it explains the Chinese exclusion act that prevented them from raising families here and owning land. Our heritage is based on demonizing the Indians and the Chinese and the Mexicans and the Africans , ECT ECT. Just imagine the white people everywhere in 1927 watching this garbage in the theater and realizing who we got to today in 2024 with hate and bigotry and the demonizing of all people who don’t look and act like us.

Great old film and some original clips from the San Francisco Earthquake.
They weren’t afraid to show Roman Catholicism in these movies with Jesus and The Virgin Mary and in the fight against evil. The last I really remember, at 68 years, was Freddie Kruger. The did have The Virgin Mary in that movie. Now, everything is satan. So this is especially pleasing to see. We need more of God on screen! Little fact, only 18% of Americans are Catholic.

What a great film! Dolores Costello was my grandfather’s favourite actress. And add in Anna May Wong. Worth it alone to see these two. Respect, valour and honour versus corruption, lust and greed. Two Gods overarch all.
