On July 4, 2026, 18-year-old Nolan Wells traveled by boat to Horn Island, Mississippi, with friends to celebrate Independence Day.
By the end of the afternoon, Nolan was missing.
Two days later, his body was recovered in the water along the northwest shore of Horn Island. Authorities initially said they had no reason to suspect foul play.

But as new information emerged, including questions about Nolan’s phone, conflicting witness accounts, a private autopsy, and newly released recordings, the investigation has become one of the most closely watched death investigations in the country.

Crime Junkie dives into the headlines, as breaking news reporter Briana Whitney reconstructs the complete timeline of Nolan Wells’ disappearance using interviews, court records, public statements, and newly released evidence.

You’ll hear about Nolan Wells’ final known movements on July 4, 2026, the timeline surrounding the trip to Horn Island, Mississippi, why Nolan’s phone became a major focus of the investigation, the statements made by Nolan’s friends after he disappeared, the private autopsy commissioned by Nolan’s family, the Sea Tow distress call that sparked nationwide debate, and the key questions investigators are still working to answer.

This episode also explores the ongoing investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the legal efforts led by attorney Ben Crump, the role of digital evidence, including phone and social media records, expert analysis of forensic pathology and postmortem findings, and why investigators continue to examine whether Nolan’s death was simply a tragic accident or whether other circumstances played a role.

I love how she left out that they immediately introduced race before they even called one friends parent πŸ˜‚ the fact javons parents were on the island too, the fact jayvons phone was on the same boat, the fact jayvons mother and warren lied about calling jayvon before going to get the phones from Jax house. The fact they were 4 cars deep in 11 minutes but didnt think it was foul yet

Firstly, the kids, lawyered up first. Withheld information about what happened or that his phone and keys were in their possession, no wonder they didn’t go to Nolans funeral services, they didnt want to risk being questioned by curious family and friends of Nolan. Went on the Tatum interview and Warren spoke as if the call to Sea Tow was real, never mentions that they canceled and Bart towed them afterwards, the enhanced audio is released, and the boys pivot on the details

Its not odd to lawyer up when you are being accused of murder. Are you serious. They had his phone because there was no dock on the island so everyone had to swim to the island thats why most left there phones .

How can they trust them with the phone when they haven’t even been able to hand over Nolan’s throat and lungs and are still withholding the autopsy? They simply can’t be trusted.
    Justice for Nolan

The alleged friends are super suspicious. There’s rumors of alleged illegal substances, you can see the underage drinking, super suspicious story. And the behavior after they identify, he’s missing is even more suspicious.

🚩When did the friends lawyer up?
🚩Did anyone in that friend group or at the party leave the country the following day?
🚩 the morning of July 5 did the friends search for Nolan right away or have breakfast?
🚩 a judge should never have made that statement. She’s making statements about alleged facts during an invest during what should be an investigation and she’s communicating to others what she thinks the timeline should be intimidating potential witnesses she should be off the bench.
