Nick Cannon Says He Doesn’t Abide By “Government” Child Support System | PEOPLE

The problem with Mr. Cannon’s trust approach is that giving all moms open access without tying it to the number of kids they have with you or the services each intact family needs. Also, each state differs as to age of emancipation and whether or not the second parent is also required to pay something towards college tuition. Absent a child with special needs, the longest support could go on for a college attending kid is their 21st birthday. Let’s say Nick is mad at one of the mom’s and her new boyfriend/hubby. Without a sum certain that he always has to pay, whether mom gets anything that month depends on how Nick feels that month.

In interviews, he sounds like he lives in fantasy land where the money is freely available, to the point where flat out waste and stealing isn’t even a concern for him, and he acts like all of the moms generally accept that he isn’t exclusive to them and that he and celibacy are a “work in progress.”

The reality, however, starts appearing when you listen to some recent mistakes. On Mother’s Day, he attempted a very kind gesture by custom writing cards for each baby’s mother but he got a few mixed up. One mom doesn’t want to hear the “sweet nothings” intended for another ear. In another interview, he told the world how he recently had two babies a few months apart and the mom who expected the earlier baby was not told about the latter pregnancy. When he talked about the issue, he laughed it off but the story had all of the earmarks of denial….

The reality is that Nick Cannon wants to live in the land of sister wives and polygamy. His baby moms are not on board for a massive “Cannon Family Compound.” Maybe some of the moms might have interest, but the collective moms don’t describe him as the center of their worlds. Maybe some of the moms are in a polyamorous relationship with him. He hasn’t been asked that question yet, but it is only a matter of time.

If he really wants to prove he values these mothers, he should pay for all of their lawyer fees to draw up legal paternity judgments that a) declare he is the legal father so he can also travel b) add him to the birth certificate if not there c) authorize domestic and international travel and passports d) set up a holiday schedule for dad where he gets the holidays they all agree the kids, as a big group, should be together and where e) clarify who is paying for insurance and how f) make sure any deductions that exist for the children flow to each mother unless they agree to shift to Nick for that year g) grant everyone joint legal custody so each parent can make medical and educational decisions h) set a child support amount for each child and say that dad will set up a bank account at X bank for each mom and keep a minimum of X as a balance in the account. Father shall continue to deposit funds into said account regularly and shall ensure the minimum balance of X is not reached. So long as Mom has withdrawn funds frim said account, without hitting the mini u. Balance, then dad’s support obligation for that month is deemed satisfied.

Expenses for rich kids they should at least discuss so that he is FAIR and EQUAL with each mother unit:
1) car…who picks it out, who pays for it, what is the price limit, what is the message? Is the car a reward for great grades? If so, what GPA means “hold off until we agree…?” Which parent insures the car?
2) cell phone
3) social media costs for celeb kids….there is an entire industry for nepotism babies
4) high school tutors and SAT/ACT tutoring (legit tutoring) costs and parenting time
5) vaccinations, including HPV vaccines. To get or not to get? The HPV vaccines prevent CANCER…
6) vacations…when does dad get them as a major unit as well as when does he get each micro family unit?
7) parent portal access, etc. if there is tension between parents, the family portal suffers first
8) college application process, cost, and tuition costs. Any expectation for the child to cover a small portion of expenses through work or scholarship? Many rich parents like to see their children pay 5 or 10 percent of the uncovered costs of schooling plus books and lab fees, etc.
9) child getting credit card…l Dad may be saying that his bank account is fully open to everyone but he will be saying something different when he has 10 teenagers going on couture shopping sprees. Ability to pay is different than “reasonable to buy.” Each micro unit should have an agreement that mom is to use dad’s card for reasonable expenses and care for the child but purchases over X amount should be discussed and approved by dad first. THIS section is why you want a set, monthly, amount. With a set amount, mom can save up for that swanky diaper bag and he can’t say a thing. Mom’s access, however, should not mean “kid’s access.”
10) ground rules about New Romantic partners and cohabitating so that no one is surprised if Mom 2 announces she is getting married in six weeks. This isn’t about permission, this is about respect. Respect enough to know if there is another person entering the micro family home, that person will have an impact on all who reside there.

As a divorce lawyer, I could go on and on….It is fairly simple and straight forward for Nick to prove his respect and trust by ensuring everyone is protected, including himself.
