If the family wants to memorialize their son, it’s understandable. It’s a shame that any family would have to deal with vandalism while they are grieving.
I think vandalism of Charlie Kirk’s statue speaks to the anger he incited in his audiences during his life. I certainly wouldn’t want that stature in my neighborhood, but this doesn’t mean I think this is an appropriate way to handle it.
If communities don’t want to see a Kirk statue or a confederate monument, I think that’s valid. I just think following a lawful process and letting the family grieve is better.
