As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mom, Nancy, enters its fifth month, new details emerge about the ransom notes sent to the 84-year-old’s family and news outlets around the time of her disappearance. The first, sent on Feb. 2 — one day after Nancy went missing — demanded Bitcoin for her release, alongside specific details about Nancy’s home. To me, it feels less like someone trying to communicate information and more like a cruel attempt to cause emotional suffering. Why would anyone risk getting caught by sending such messages unless the goal was to inflict fear, confusion, and heartbreak?

Whatever the motive, no family should have to endure that kind of psychological torment. I hope the truth comes to light and that Savannah and her family find strength during this difficult time.
