Tbh 14 slam shouldn’t be the record for men’s tennis pre big 3 era. The number should be near 20 or above if the likes of Laver, Rosewall, Pancho Gonzalez didn’t turned pro at their peak. Tilden would had 20 slams if transportation system was better in 1920’s or 1930’s. Borg could have 16 or 17 slams if he played long enough & played more A.O (which he played just once😮😮). Tbf Sampras was the first man to regularly play all 4 majors in a year & care about slams. He dominant mainly in Wimbledon & Us open but struggle in A.O with 2 titles (Agassi had 4 despite not playing there till 1995) & on clay he was pretty mediocre, he never reached a final there lol😂😂. Why 14 slams would be impossible to beat if women’s GOAT contender like Court (24), Graf (22), Martina (18) & Chris (18) already won more than Pete before despite Chris & Martina skipped some A.O & F.O in their career. If you are good enough on all 3 surface then the number should be higher. Pete didn’t have many rivals. During his peak Agassi was struggling & drop out of top 100.
