🎶 NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT OUR PERSONAL FAVORITES OR OUR RANKING CHOICES!!
This list was compiled based on MTV’s own “Top Music Videos of the 1980’s” roundup, as well as MTV’s heavy rotation playlists from 1983. These are some of the most iconic and heavily played music videos from that year, with great classics by everyone from MICHAEL JACKSON to PRINCE, MEN WITHOUT HATS to DURAN DURAN, BILLY JOEL to CYNDI LAUPER and many more!
There were so many great music videos released in 1983. MTV included the majority of these in the overall “Best of the 1980’s” special episode as well as being featured in various other best-of rankings from the channel and in various publications. Ultimately though, there are still many other great ones that didn’t make the list here. Do you remember these songs? Which one is your favorite? Which videos from 1983 do you think should’ve been included in their top 20? Comment below!

Not our personal favorites or picks, but rather this list comes from MTV’s own rankings in their “Top 100 Videos of the 1980’s” episode as well as their rotation lists from the time! So many undeniable classics here! But there are still some other great videos from 1983 that didn’t quite make the countdown. Which ones are missing? And which videos shown here do you remember the most fondly? Did you watch these videos when they first premiered on MTV? Let us know!
They never put ACDCs music on these things. They have had more selling albums for 55 yrs.anf still touring. Malcolm is gone but his music will live on. And Bons songs will never die
Great job!! I greatly appreciate your videos!! 😊 I remember Michael Jackson the most as well Whitney Houston later on. 💕💕
Wow I loved all these songs in 1983 I was 13 m TV was Kick-Ass balls with the TV and videos that we can see and we watched MTV all day everyday it was music television and ain’t nothing like it used to be I wish him a TV but come back with all the Kick-Ass videos in the latest songs but I have fun childhood memories of all these songs and they are very special to me and I’m 56 years old and I remember all these songs like yesterday so I loved all these songs back then as 13 to him
I didn’t say balls I said I love all these songs
I was 6 years old, but yes I remember most of them.
I hate listening to Michael Jackson
Micheal Jackson”.., Dominated The 83″Line-up”!! That’s what you call”.. ..#”MUSIC”ICON”!!
I’m so blessed to have a front row seat to the 80’s. Grew up 20 miles from the Los Angeles county line in Riverside county California. Graduated high school in 1989 and had all my important years in the decade
All great videos! I remember watching MTV all day on Sunday as a teen.
All great songs to have come out!
Rock it is the best video in my heart
