Rowan Atkinson is back as Bean, his much beloved and hilarious comic alter ego! In this sequel to the popular first film, Bean takes his obtuse, big hearted and physically challenged self on holiday to the South of France and gets tangled up in a road trip involving a Romanian film journalist’s young son and a beautiful up-and-coming French starlet. Also-starring Academy Award-nominee Willem Dafoe.

It seems that the harder I try in life, the harder I fall.

Over the years, I have bruised my mind and body in almost every conceivable way, trying to force life to flow in the direction I wanted it to go. I pushed when I should have rested. I fought when perhaps I should have let go. I kept believing that if I just tried harder, endured more, sacrificed more, somehow life would finally give in.

But life does not always bend because we ask it to.

Sometimes the harder we fight the current, the more exhausted we become.

And then there is Mr. Bean.

He fails over and over again. He loses things, misses opportunities, takes wrong turns, ends up in places he never intended to be, and somehow turns the simplest situations into complete disasters.

And yet, somehow, he still reaches his destination.

Yes, it’s only a movie. A comedy, of all things. Certainly nowhere near any great philosophical wisdom.

    But…

Maybe that is exactly why the thought sneaks up on you.

Maybe not every wrong turn means you are moving farther away. Maybe not every failure means you have failed at life. Maybe sometimes the answer is not to push harder, fight harder, plan harder, or force everything into place.

Maybe sometimes you have to loosen your grip.

Maybe you have to stop fighting every current and allow the river of life to carry you for a while.

To stop believing that every setback means you are farther from where you are supposed to be.

To stop measuring your life only by the things that did not work out, the doors that closed, the plans that collapsed, or the versions of your life that never happened.

Because maybe being lost does not always mean you are going the wrong way.

Maybe some roads only make sense once you have already traveled them.

And maybe one day, after all the wrong turns, all the falls, all the disappointments, all the moments when I was convinced that I had somehow gotten life completely wrong, I will finally look around and understand.

Maybe I was never supposed to force the river to flow my way.

Maybe I was supposed to learn how to let it carry me.

    And maybe, somehow, despite everything…

    I will still arrive.
