Matt Turner didn’t start playing ⚽️ until he was 16 years old. He was a walk-on at Fairfield University. He watched YouTube videos on how to be a goalkeeper.
He considered walking away from the game after this play was No. 1 on SportsCenter’s Not Top 10. Since then, he has:
📈 Signed for New England after going undrafted
🔝 Named MLS best goalkeeper
✍️ Signed for Arsenal
🧤 Earned 2 World Cup clean sheets
🚫 Allowed no goals in open play
What an incredible story 👏

and now he’s just won the FA Cup
That was not as bad as I thought. Why were people shitting on him?
Imagine that the keeper is the one player in this clip that became a top level pro
The move there would be to punch it over the crossbar for a corner but he was probably feeling the pressure to not give up a corner so try to catch it while facing towards the goal. Very funky situation to find yourself in as a goalkeeper
Its actually things like this that make you better. Its hurts so bad that you never repeat it.
Dear god we all wish he would’ve!
Maybe he should’ve
