Designer Sara McDaniel restores a Louisiana home from 1905 that was used as a private residence, a boarding house for single unmarried teachers, and was rumored to harbor a speakeasy on the third floor in the 1920s.

Designers, builders and old-home enthusiasts in small towns and big cities across America reimagine and transform abandoned structures by preserving their historical integrity while giving them new purpose.

Phenomenal job, Sara!! Now this is a restoration/renovation done right. Just gorgeous! Those green floors just work and the dining room, kitchen and speak easy are the highlights. Will you be posting somewhere when you work on the second floor? <3

In that top space with the knob & tube exposed wiring, I’d run the new circuits discretely to the original load locations and hide the new wiring the best I can to give the illusion that the lighting there is still being powered by the original wiring. Fun stuff
