During Lindsay Clancy’s trial, forensic scientist Hilary Griffiths testified about toxicology testing performed on Clancy’s blood and urine samples. Griffiths, who worked with the Massachusetts State Police in 2023, told jurors that testing detected benzodiazepines in Clancy’s urine, including nordiazepam, oxazepam, temazepam, and lorazepam. Clancy is accused of killing her three young children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, inside their Massachusetts home in January 2023 before attempting to take her own life. Her defense has argued she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder at the time. Clancy has pleaded not guilty.

A patient can be taking their Lamotrigine, Mirtazapine, Trazodone, and Benzodiazepines exactly as prescribed and still experience a sudden, fulminant psychotic episode.
Psychosis can “break through” therapeutic levels during periods of extreme sleep deprivation, severe hormonal fluctuations (especially postpartum), or acute psychological stress.
Neurotransmitter Overload: Mirtazapine and Trazodone alter serotonin and norepinephrine. Lamotrigine alters glutamate. Benzodiazepines affect GABA. Seroquel blocks dopamine and histamine.
Even if none of the drugs are individually at a toxic level, their combined neurochemical impact can cause severe disinhibition, cognitive fragmentation, and loss of contact with reality.
Instead of calming the central nervous system, therapeutic doses of benzodiazepines or sedating antidepressants can occasionally cause disinhibition, rage, extreme confusion, or anterograde amnesia (a trance-like state where a person acts without full conscious awareness or memory formation).
Combined with sedatives, this can produce a twilight or sleepwalking-like state (automatism) where complex behavior occurs while higher-level moral judgment and executive reality-testing are entirely offline.
What really happened with L. – maybe even she can’t say, but one thing is certain – this is def. too many meds to treat someone who is not supervised and who is caring for a small child.

@RenemattermattersI agree with part of what you are saying, Lindsey is not denying that she unallied her three children. She is simply claiming she had postpartum depression and psychosis. That has been proven by testimony court from multiple people from the diary that they read. She told her husband she wanted to hurt the children. She told multiple people she was hearing voices so why would anybody leave her alone with the children? I think no one should’ve left her alone. Because she was a danger to herself also.
