Matthew Lewinski was sentenced to life without parole for murdering his former girlfriend, Courtney “Jerri” Winters. A judge called the case one of the “most depraved” he had ever seen after prosecutors said Lewinski strangled Winters and lived with her remains hidden in the basement for seven months. Her family delivered emotional victim impact statements before the sentence was imposed.
