In the interrogation, Tanner Horner described hitting Athena with his truck and panicking about getting in trouble, which led him to have her get into his vehicle. He claims he then drove down a private road, attempted to break her neck, and ultimately strangled her until she stopped moving. Afterward, he admitted driving around trying to figure out what to do before dumping her body in a wooded area. Throughout, he blamed panic, fear, and “a voice in his head” while investigators pressed for exact details.
