After being sentenced to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, Karmelo Anthony has filed an appeal and is requesting a court-appointed attorney, claiming he cannot afford legal representation despite a fundraiser that previously raised more than $600,000. In their first interview since the verdict, Anthony’s parents said they are devastated, insist their son acted lawfully and in self-defense, and accused the jury and witnesses of treating him unfairly. Plus, the judge in the case is speaking out, as well as Metcalf’s father. Anthony has already been transferred from the county jail to a Texas state prison. Court TV’s Vinnie Politan Investigates.

Loved their points of view on the swiftly lack of evidence unfair trial. Some things that should’ve not happened, gag order, jury of peers, judges interview after trial, overturning the verdict of the jury choosing his verdict instead, etc
Exactly! And just to be CRYSTAL CLEAR y’all, Karmelo did not have a “knife”. Karmelo had a MULTI TOOL that just so happened to have a small 3″ blade within it. Lots of kids bring either MULTI TOOLS or CLEAT WRENCHES to track meets!
Judicial transparency is vital to a fair legal system. However,with so many minors testifying might have had somethkng to do with eliminating cameras. But, clearly their are ways to get around it. Overall, I think a murderer was out in prison and the son of a racist dad was killed. Win – win
I hear your tone. You’re not objective with that “both sides” crap. I believe that Carmelo was bullied. A trial in one day with no cameras and an all white jury and a bought defense attorney?!!!! Yeah, the racists are having a field day but the truth will come out. There’s more evidence other than the video. God is working.
