Jeff Joniak on Ben Johnson’s INTENSE Bears Camp & Why Chicago Feels Different
Voice of the Bears Jeff Joniak joins Carmen & Jurko for his weekly conversation as Chicago Bears training camp rolls on.
Joniak explains why he’s loving what he’s seeing from Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen, from the intensity and physicality of practice to the accountability being demanded from players every day. The Bears aren’t afraid to turn up the contact at camp, and Joniak believes that approach could have Chicago better prepared when the regular season begins.
The guys also discuss the unfortunate Coby Bryant injury, why injuries are an unavoidable part of football, and why Johnson shouldn’t change the way he’s preparing his team because of one bad break.
Plus, Joniak looks ahead to the Bears’ first preseason game and discusses the excitement surrounding the franchise after a memorable 2025 season. He also shares some incredible stories from his career behind the microphone—including battling through voice problems during one of the biggest Bears games he’s ever called.

Jeff believed in flus and loved him.. I’m not saying I don’t love Ben cuz he’s my favorite coach of all time. I’m saying Jeff will never say anything bad about bears lol he’s bought and paid for
I’m a fan, and don’t relate to the Bears as something I need/want to be critical about until it’s obvious they need to go… I held my water a bit on Flus until the Lions game on Thanksgiving… That reaction was universal… Other than that, it makes sense why someone would not want to be critical about their employer publicly…
Agreed on all fronts. And I’m a 49 year old diehard. I believed in 🥶 when he was a freshman down bad vs Texas. I said God if only… Now SBs, God if only… We on our way, one step at a time. We Up 🐻 🔽
I love to listen to Jeff’s Bears perspective but to here him ask medical advice from Dr. Jurko is priceless Bear and Beer Down!!!
