When Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Cory Melo took the stand, he testified about several journals found inside the Clancy home. During defense questioning, portions of the journal entries were read aloud, including statements in which Clancy reportedly described experiencing brain fog, feeling completely overwhelmed while caring for her three children, and feeling like she was “drowning” every day. Lindsay Clancy is currently on trial for the deaths of her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.

I am a birth doula and all of these feelings of guilt, anxiety, depression, etc. sound textbook to me. Guilt about not breastfeeding, guilt about sleep training, overwhelm from the sound of the crying, unable to connect to her husband. All of that on top of whatever else was going on with her mentally, the coming on and off various meds all led her to do something monstrous. I see a mom who was trying to hang on by a thread and snapped, and now her beautiful children are gone. I see tons of comments here like I made it through ___ and didn’t murder my kids. Yes. You didn’t. And she should not have. But not everyone responds the same way to intersecting mental illnesses and stressors. It’s awful, but it doesn’t mean she intended to be monstrous. She snapped.

ok so i have 2 young kids , i have no help from family or friends and i do feel overstimulated 95% of the time, but the safety of my kids is my #1 priority.. if i need a break i demand a break to my husband and he gives me a break . this woman had family, friends and nanny.. i dont understand… and letting a baby cry for 1 hour is insane..

Why is the defense questioning him like that? Like he the one on trial of something 😂 they are just reading the journal. So intense.
