I recently had the opportunity to work on the ALL IN IndyCar Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and in this video I’m taking you behind the scenes of what it takes to capture audio in one of the loudest and most unpredictable environments in motorsports.

I’ll walk through the gear I’m using, how we record team radios, the microphones used on drivers and strategists, how I work alongside the camera crew, and what documentary production really looks like when plans change throughout the day.

From early morning call times to pit lane coverage, strategy meetings, race communications, and post-race interviews, this is a real-world look at location sound for documentary filmmaking.

If you’re interested in audio, documentary production, filmmaking, motorsports, or behind-the-scenes production work, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

The All In documentary series is produced by Shadow Lion in collaboration with IndyCar and FOX.
