That duck tape doesn’t always do the trick. Sometimes it’s more dangerous. The tape can hold the broken piece and swing it and cut you. Sometimes it’s better not to tape it so the broken glass can just fall straight to the floor and no one gets hurt
If I don’t want to reuse it can I just smash it? XD
Thanks for the tricks. I just took off a 9′ X 4′ mirror in one piece. The wood shims is the key. I also used a 5′ piece of oak that was about 1/2″ X 3/4″. Once I had shimmed it from the wall enough to get the oak in, I could push the oak piece in and twist to apply a little pressure to get the glue to pop. So now what to do with a huge mirror?

I took out ours and ended up having to just smash it
Work with safety glasses , leather gloves , long sleeves , and steel toe boots if you have them .
Tape the mirror using duck tape .
Use a utility knife to cut the silicone at the bottom .
Put wood shims behind it from the top and sides .
Use the suction cups , if you can get them . They really help in removing , and carrying , the mirror .
If you don`t have the suction cups , use your fingers and/or a thin blade to get behind the mirror to ” pull” it away from the wall .
The mirror I took off had ten times the adhesive. These ladies had a little luck on their side.
I’ve read you need to ‘heat’ the adhesive to soften it for removal. How would you ‘heat’ the adhesive? It looked like this mirror was just prized off.
