If energy can’t be created or destroyed and can only be transferred and transformed, where does the energy go when light is redshifted by the expansion of space?
Good question. I believe the energy is lost to the surrounding space
@kzeichYeah, maybe it is dissipated into the quantum field that the light waves are generated from analogous to how waves waves on the surface of a fluid dissipate over distance. Don’t know if this is correct but seems rational.
