Victor Wembanyama has broken the game of basketball to the point where other NBA centers must do whatever they can to stop him. Even if it means they need to play unfair. Let’s take a look at how this happened.

    An okc fan here,

But, damn, Wemby individually does not have a weakness.

You can only mitigate him. And he’s prolly in the echelon of superstars. It will take a while before a scheme can be crafted to counter him. I.e. Jokic – making him a scorer, Curry – not allowing him to go off ball, etc.

It took at least a year after their championships before we saw something that actually worked to at least mitigate them.

Wemby might change the draft plans and team building approach after this play offs.

Now show Wemby doing the exact thing in game 1. Or Castle Vessel holding SGA all damn night. Oh it doesn’t fit the narrative. Not one single video made on how dirty Wemby is for a literal elbow that could have caused permanent damage to Naz. Or the fact a 7’5” was allowed to lower his shoulder line up his tackle and send it but it’s a common fucking foul. But you idiots would be screaming murder if an OKC player did it. IE this shit. It’s fine when he does it.

Sadly It’s looking like OKC is just going to grind the Spurs down with their depth. Fox and Harper being injured will only compound the problem. Wemby is also playing minutes and sustained intensity he has never had to before. He might genuinely be a unicorn 1 of 1 with his frame and agility but he’s still human. None of us would really be shocked if he suffered any injury through all this. Soft tissue injuries are running rampant around the league what really are the chances of a dude who’s 7’5″ not also going down at some point. Unlike many others I wasn’t frothing at the mouth over IHart’s physicality with Wemby. Yeah there were a lot of fouls but there were also just plenty of physical off ball stuff that happens all around the league every game too. After his massive effort in game 1 it wasn’t a surprise that Wemby wasn’t able to dominate in the same way regardless of the coaching adjustments from both teams.
THrough all of this The Knicks just might sneakily have an actual shot at a title this year. I wouldn’t bet on them but there chances certainly aren’t zero etiher.
