Country music has taken over the charts, and Nashville is no longer just a country town. Seth England, CEO of Big Loud, sits down on Billboard On The Record for a conversation about how his label has helped shape the modern country landscape and how artists like Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line and HARDY have driven the genre’s rise. England breaks down how Nashville has become a hub for songwriters across genres, what actually drives hit-making today and why artist development remains one of the most important pillars at Big Loud.

I assume he’s talking about Jason Aldean in the story about signing Florida Georgia Line
I like that because everybody has artists they look at and say they like what they put out there may be some songs they’re not as high on but it’s sometimes just not up to that bar they’ve set for their selves on past projects, but to see some that just maintain that quality throughout a career is impressive and shows how much work them and their teams put into it 20:05
As an LA music guy I want to try living in Nashville for a few years but the humidity and lack of other things to do gives me the ick 😂
Country is one of the easiest genre of music ever, the thing is it is liked by a certain demographic (you know who) so it seems like it is a huge and complex thing
Damn you could say the same about every genre. Hip hop is predominantly black. Pop is predominantly younger women and white women. Rock is predominantly Middle age white men.
This guy is great
Just want to give props to the interviewer Kristin Robinson. It’s great when interviewers let their guest talk and listen carefully.
Writing from Istanbul, I’d really like to see Nashville. I’ve been to LA a few times I guess it’s time to discover the Nashville Music Scene 🙂 Thanks fro another great episode !
