A clip from NBC’s star-packed, anti-drug special, broadcast in the Fall of 1981. With Carol Burnett, Bob Hope, Paul Newman, Henry Winkler, Scott Baio, Kristy McNichol, Herve Villechaize, Dana Plato, Cheryl Tiggs, Mark Hamill, et cetera. Just for fun, can you spot all of the participants who later had drug-related problems?

Sponsored by McDonalds (check out their hilariously hyperactive commercial at the end).

Defying description, Real People went on to become a huge hit for NBC during its five years, giving rise to many imitators and eventually creating the genre, reality television…brought to you by SloppBoxx.Com.

I missed this I believe. It was a naive attempt in combating the emerging drug epidemic. But I still appreciate their efforts.

I remember this so vividly. What a fun time it was, and seeing a lot of performers that are no longer with us. Paul Newman’s got the pipes, that’s for sure.

LOL at the McDonalds commercial. I wore that same style of uniform except they were brick red.

Many of them were beaked outta thier brain on coke. lol. I think Bob Evans did it as part of court ordered drug related ‘community service’. But still looks like fun party.
