Samuel Bateman, who is already serving 50 years in prison after being convicted of federal charges involving the transportation of a minor for sexual activity, took the stand in his own defense. Bateman faced state child abuse charges after girls were found in an unventilated trailer he was hauling through Arizona. While on the stand, Bateman testified that he would never hurt people he loved, but under cross-examination, he admitted that the girls were in the trailer for hours with bad ventilation.
