A new study confirms that satellites now appear in nearly every wide-field image from major observatories. In this video, we discuss our increasingly crowded orbital neighborhood and how we’ve transformed our planet’s orbit into a metal minefield.

Who told you we know who is driving in the neighborhood?
What type of signal do satellites operate on ? Cant you track the signals broadcasting from Earth to Satellite to Earth again ?
Now Elon is talking 1 million!
It has satellite!
How do spacecraft get through without crashing into one of these?
I also wonder do the satellite s ever crash into each other
Each object inhabits a space of its own of about 4,400 square miles, so there really isn’t all that high a chance of collisions. Yet.
@jonroesler8155Cool story
Assuming 45,000 objects in orbit and the diameter of earth being 7,926.44 miles and using 4πr2 for ‘smoothed’ area at the surface, area = 4 x 3.1416 x 3,963.22 = 197,379,408 square miles… divided by 45,000 = 4,386 sq miles each.
If each of those 4,386 sq miles of area was a circle (WAY simplifying), each circle would be 75 MILES across… and, the ISS only being some 357 feet from end to end and about 250 miles up, low earth orbits are not really all that crowded?
Sorry, purely by math you are correct, however, you are missing the point!
They use these settalite to do voice to skull technology on people.
Your scale is WAY off… no satellite is larger than Switzerland.
