Dr. Jennifer Tufts, a psychiatrist who saw Lindsay Clancy from September 2022 to January 2023, took the stand in her murder trial. She detailed the meetings with Lindsay before the murders of her three children and the medications that she had prescribed. She also stated that Lindsay didn’t show signs of suicidal or homicidal thoughts until later in their meetings. Dr. Tufts claimed Lindsay also never showed any signs of psychosis. Clancey killed her 5-year-old, 3-year-old, and 8-month-old kids inside their Massachusetts home in January 2023 and then allegedly tried to take her own life.

There’s a petition to help this sweetheart out because of her lawsuit. If you’d like to help her as well, it’s easy to find and sign.

I mean, I understand that the defense lawyer is trying to stir things up to get the doctor mad/flustered and build up an “Aha!” moment, but my goodness, I don’t think he knows how psychiatrists work 😅

Why was no blood work done? She could have had hormonal issues, thyroid problems, iron deficiency, a lot of things that affect your overall mood, sleep quality and so on. Lack of iron together with thyroid issues (both common post-partum) are huge causes of mood changes and quality of life. Shouldn’t this be done BEFORE concluding someone has anxiety and giving them strong pills?

I think all psychiatrist should realize that our current psychiatry is far from perfection – it has been significantly improved from decades ago, but as a person with depression and anxiety, I found it incredibly frustrating with current treatment for anxiety and depression. There’s simply no fix solution for it, you sometimes have to try many different drugs to figure out which one works, and each failure leads to disappointment and mistrust. Some of the drugs can even make things worse. On the therapy side of things, it’s even more frustrating. It is very common to have to switch therapist because “they aren’t a match for you”. Remember, during these time, we are PAYING for these treatments and therapies that are NOT working! There are also things that cannot work out with therapy as long as the real life situation has not been changed. I am hoping that soon there will be advancement on things like ECT so that I don’t have to feel like a lab rat that is paying to become a lab rat!
