Grammy winners Deep Dish break down the story behind their 2005 hit ‘Flashdance’.

The duo of Dubfire and Sharam formed in 1990 and quickly saw success with a string of high-profile remixes for Madonna and De Lacy. Here, they tell us about their early music career and enduring friendship.

‘Flashdance’ was an idea formed by Sharam after hearing ‘He’s A Dream’ whilst watching the 1983 film Flashdance. Once played out, the duo quickly realised they had something special. Together, they got into the studio to finalise the project, working with Anousheh Khalili on the vocals.

The track debuted in the UK charts and became one of Deep Dish’s most loved releases.

There was a movement in dance music involving guitars that probably peaked around 2007. Perhaps this was the catalyst. 🤔
