Coco is a great player, she is not a Legend or Icon and I don’t understand the desperate push by media to make her be perceived as if she is. She’s very good. She is not Serena, Venus, Monica, Steffi, Chris, Martina etc.

Coco is young and she’s 21. It’s better for her to fix these issues now, than when she gets older; which will be more difficult.

What she is experiencing now, is the painful process of growth, development and change.

In life as with Coco; change can be both scary and painful. How many of us have always done what’s easy and safe, and have achieved little or no success. In fact we’ve had more failures than successes, as opposed to those who have stepped out of their comfort zones and now living their best lives.

Coco has lost more tournaments than she won; especially the whole of last year (2024) right up to the US OPEN, Brad Gilbert did little or nothing to improve her game or her
serve.

Thank God Gauff got rid of him and hired Matt Daly coming down to the end of the year, who in my opinion has done a whole lot more than Brad. Matt(being a grip specialist) helped in adjusting her grip, resulting in her winning Shanghai, WTA TOURNAMENT, United Cup tournament with team USA, reaching the Australian Open quarter finals and winning the French Open. However her serve continued to be an issue, causing her to still experience more loses than wins. Especially in the Rome final, where Jasmine had no business winning that tournament. Same thing happened in the Wuhan final against Sabalenka in the final last year, where Coco has the match almost won, but for her serve which failed her at crucial time in that match. Almost at Berlin, Wimbledon and Cincinnati.

So on the cusp of the US OPEN, Coco made a gutsy, painful move which Gauff thinks would be in the best interest of her career going forward; by letting Matt go.

I mean, Matt has brought Coco a mighty long way with the change of gripping technique; but the default and serve issues still remains. Therefore Matt had to go and in come Gavin. Matt has more than served his purpose. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Now with all the foundational work that Matt has done coupled with Coco’s natural athletism, Gavin has a lot to work with.

I declare in JESUS’S name Coco will win this tournament; just to shut the mouths of the haters, naysayers and the so called online pundits and coach. I wanna get a good laugh when this happens.
