To celebrate New Year’s, here’s the first of my classic Doctor Who suites. This one from Tom Baker’s swansong Logopolis, and focusing mostly on the Watcher’s themes plus a few other cues I liked. Enjoy and Happy New Year! Thanks for subscribing! 🙂
Music by Paddy Kingsland and Peter Howell

Anybody else feel they could place Doctor Who music by season? They all had a “feel” of their own (Not themes, I mean the incidentals.)
I’m not sure it’s true that each season had such a consistent feel as Season 18. I think anyone would struggle to place Dudley’s music.

As a younger fan, this is definitely one of the music suites that got me more interested in the music of classic who, 4th-7th doctor is definitely where the music flourished
5:46 *The 4th Doctor Finally Regenerates As The 5th Doctor*
4th Doctor’s Main Replacement: Tom Baker
5th Doctor’s Current Replacement: Peter Davison (5th Doctor’s Era: 1982-1984)
(4th Doctor’s Era: 1974-1981)
6:17 *Cue The Ending Cliffhanger Theme* (4th Doctor: Tom Baker)
(Reintroducing 5th Doctor As: Peter Davison)
6:14 sounding like a eerie version of the theme song is perfect, I wish that part was longer
Season 18 really took the silliness out of Doctor Who. Not all the stories were good but when they hit, they hit hard
As for stories, the E-space trilogy and the Traken-Logopolis-Castrovalva trilogy will always hace a special place in my heart. I love that in each story the conflicts are comparatively intellectual in their resolution. Even in “State of Decay”, the Lords could not be fought with force, but only by the Doctor understanding what was going on and then finding technology to overcome them.
For me, some of the music from “State of Decay”, “Logopolis” and “Castrovalva” is the most memorable of the Classic era, and what impelled me to seek out their soundtracks.
