I am telling you this man is a magician. Brett, this is one of your finest restorations yet. I loved how you uncovered the home’s Japanese garden influences and brought them back to life with such respect for its original mid-century modern character. The new sliding wall opening into the kitchen is a brilliant design choice—it feels authentic to the home’s spirit while making it so much more livable. You have an incredible gift for seeing what a house was always meant to be and bringing that vision back to reality. Absolutely stunning work!
The restoration is gorgeous. The designer was really insisting on those yellow couches and I’m glad she did. They really brought out the warmth of the wood around. The yellow/blue artwork was amazing as well!
Yes! The white would have been too stark and bland. The wooden walls needed a warm, saturated color for a couch.
Mid-century modern is not my favorite style, but it’s perfect for this couple. The lady was fun to watch; she had such joy in discovering everything Bret had done! I was hoping they would use the original hand-carved rocks for the water feature, or at least explained to us why they couldn’t. I love that they added so much warm wood.

Brent is my favorite when it comes to the magnolia network in fact he’s the one that even drew me to Magnolia and he’s still the one I make sure I have to watch. It is so refreshing to have somebody take it back update but really take it back to where it should be. He’s an expert at what he does and the people work with him the contractors perfection. But this house is even more special than the others and believe me I grew up in the 60s as a elementary school kid and I don’t have any love of the 60s but that house is something else now
