Angie Brown, formerly of Bizarre Inc., shares the story behind their ‘90s house anthem, ‘I’m Gonna Get You’.

Growing up in Brixton in the ‘80s, Angie tells DJ Mag about discovering her voice, and becoming a regular singer on the London club circuit. It was during this time that she was approached by a talent scout on behalf of Bizarre Inc. Meeting the production trio in a studio in Stafford, Brown didn’t initially understand how the track was going to work, having been asked to sing parts of Jocelyn Brown’s ‘Love’s Gonna Get You’ alongside some ad-libs — but only a few months later she was in the charts.

Here, Angie Brown speaks of Top of the Pops performances, eventually leaving Bizarre Inc., and appearing on UK talent show The Voice.

How is @realangiebrown 62 years old in this video??? Yes we all know the phrase, but come on, she looks AMAZING!Absolutely roof-shaking voice, if I get back into production, I’m working with her! Always loved both of those Bizarre Inc tunes, even the one she didn’t. What an era that was.))))

    No call for house music?

I’m still listening to bizarre ink, since the 80s.

The VOCALS on house are extremely important. You do get some good male vocalists in house. but I think it primarily has to be women.

The real heads know and have deep affection for all the black female vocalists, really where would house music be without them
