Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is the latest voice to call for legislation. On NBC’s Meet the Press, Gates said that AI could be powerful enough to potentially cause “a billion deaths.”

📰 Gates acknowledged additional regulation would create some costs for the AI industry but said it would not necessarily prevent companies from continuing to develop the technology.
Gates also issued a stark warning about the potential consequences if advanced AI tools fall into the hands of people with malicious intentions.
