So glad the players are finally calling out the AO broadcasters. I foresee some boycotting of the AO next year, especially since it’s so expensive and difficult for the players to get to Australia. This is the worst I’ve seen in 40+ years of playing/watching tennis.
@10sGAcmck They are NOT boycotting ever! They’re not leaving that type of money on the table as well as it being mandatory to play these events.
I found it absolutely awful when the interviewer was making that age joke, turned out Ben felt the same way at that moment. Bravo for bring these up!
Anglo-Saxon hypocrisy. When a Serb or another member of the Slavic group of people says something like that – then it doesn’t matter. An American has to say that. And this “American woman” who is ashamed of her origins. In the end, it all boils down to a war of cultures. We will never have a normal relationship.
Another vid had aussie panel interviewing Louise Fleming (hoping I have the name correct). They turned off comments, which is fine, go Australia. I think Ben’s post match interview and his responses are super well stated, very articulate in fact. The interviewers need to take pause for a minute, and after the adrenalin of a match, ask technical questions about the match, stay out of personal or sideline stuff. But here’s the catch, they can’t ask technical questions because they don’t really understand tennis, playing at a high level, or anything along those lines. A few do of course, but most don’t. Taking Aussie humor aside, another issue is what is up with this ongoing have to interview every person after every winning match on the court, then off the court, half of which are totally stupid question anyway, how does this move the bar for us viewers at home? For those of us that play a tennis regularly, and for those that really play the game at a high level, last thing I want to be asked after a win or a loss is the age of my opponent, who gives a rip about that. One last thing too, the first vid I mentioned, the panel is laughing about players making $50 million and they should just buckle up over it. News flash, most players LOSE money every year playing. The handful at the top of the game, in relative terms, make a great living, but certainly at a high price of sacrifice. The 100th ranked person the world, most likely is losing money to be that and if you compare that to the 100th ranked CEO in the world, tennis is a labor of love. Tennis Australia, come on now, get your head screwed on straight, we don’t want cheeky, just chill out a bit, the players will chill out a bit, and us viewers, will get a better product in the end.
Ben 💯 right, but if you listen to the Aussie networks, they reckon international players are crybabies. If you think I’m joking, then go check The Project. TBH, I’m beginning to think these Aussies are a bunch of clowns who can’t fathom that they’re being abusive. Instead of reflecting on their behavior, they would rather resort to gaslighting. Good luck in the semis, I will be pulling for you mate 🎾
