To Caleb Flynn’s girls: the Bible and the church, and why you must leave them.
I didn’t realize it until I was in my mid 40s, and I wish someone had told me sooner. This is what I want to tell you.
The problem with the church is that it runs on Paul’s doctrines, the teachings of one man.
Paul never met Jesus in the flesh. He claimed he saw him in a vision, with no witnesses, and from that one moment he gave himself the authority to teach the church. The rules telling women to be silent, not to teach, and to submit, and slaves to obey their masters, come from Paul’s letters, not from Jesus. Meanwhile, books carrying the names of Jesus’s own disciples, like the Gospels of Thomas and Mary, were rejected and buried, and history shows people were tortured and killed as heretics for reading and following them.
Jesus did the opposite. He chose Mary Magdalene to be the first to tell the world he had risen.
And the Bible itself was put together by men, centuries after Jesus. God doesn’t have a typewriter in heaven. We’ve been lied to for over 2,000 years.
Walking away from the church and the Bible is the best thing for everyone. All religions and faiths are man-made, so let’s not take it so seriously. The Bible is rigged.
