Alex Honnold, a rock climber famous for his free solo ascents, and a team of expert climbers and scientists reach the final phase of their epic expedition – A 4,000 foot sea wall called Ingmikortilaq, one of the biggest unclimbed rock faces on the planet, and one of the most important glaciers in Greenland. In this full episode of Arctic Ascent from National Geographic, Honnold not only attempts the impossible, but helps gather critical field data with glaciologist Heidi Sevestre to research the impacts of climate change on the region’s glaciers and the Renland Ice Cap.

So glad this glacier is surviving climate change. But. We know, anyone with any sense about CO2, it will no longer be the same. But it is good news this glacier is still holding strong.

It was awesome to watch Alex and Hazel summiting that amazing foliated gneiss wall that is even 1000 feet higher than El Cap, viewing the spectacular huge glacier. As a geologist and mountaineer I can say that, climbing on a foliated, banded metamorphic rock might be extremely risky for having slippery and weak structures along foliated and banded layers. Congrats for their great success!

Let’s watch two world-class climbers climb something where half the episode is some random third guy complaining the whole time

Hats off and stading applause. This guy does not even know how much he cost. These shows need to pay him billions. He is THE LEGEND!!! one in billions.
