People sometimes talk of an “Islamic” Golden Age. But this so-called golden age is more of an exception, a fluke in Islam, than typical of the Islamic religion. The main proponents during this era, the main Islamic intellectuals of this era, were by and large intellectuals that had broken with orthodox Islam and were regarded with the utmost suspicion by the Islamic community at their time. So, it was only by breaking away from orthodox Islamic beliefs that these sorts of achievements became possible.
If all these people in comment section actually read his books they would know that he is against deitifaction of science, not science itself.
The golden age of Islam ended because rising extremism+sectarianism, the clergy class turning religion into tool of control (which he was dissilusioned with as expressed in Deliverance from Error book, also why he turns to sufism later in his life) and finally the mongols.
I bet Neil Degrasse tyson never read his book either before commenting.
