My husband and I live in a 1906 Dutch colonial revival home. We have loved this home for the last 36 years. It is much smaller than yours but our stare case looks similar. You did a fantastic job.
I guess some people still like open concept homes, I would have kept the separation maybe just add nice french doors. I would plant trees and drought resistant shrubs. Open land is more prone to fires and tornadoes. Great investment and renovation.
