The digital revolution “is surely the greatest technological triumph in history. But that means it could be the most disruptive.” Fareed explains how the anxiety stemming from large-scale change makes people want more from their leaders — and how that can breed dissatisfaction with the performance of democratic governments.

In 1950, the top tax rate was 90%. That incentivized the richest Americans to pay their workers more, since they couldn’t keep it themselves. That insured everyone benefited from economic growth, not just them–for instance, the middle class grew. All the tax cuts for the rich have incentivized them hoarding all the economic growth for themselves. That needs to change.
The situation nowadays reminds me of France before the Revolution. The rich nobility paid no or little taxes, reaping all he benefits of France’s growth, while the costs of bread for ordinary people went up and they got poorer. Watching the nobility feast like pigs while we work so they can benefit breaks people eventually. Deflecting attention to foreign wars and outcaste groups won’t work forever.
What a load of K-Rap.
sorry to pop the bubble, but the USA is not and has never been a democracy, it lacks proportional representation to be so. It is an oligarchy in the hands of a tiny few people, with support of a minority and a very good marketing team…
Democracy and capitalism are incompatible. They are at war with each other, and democracy is losing.
Brother, the problem with democracy id democracy itself. The very people you interview sitting at the highest level of society is the product of democracy. In democracy you need voters whom you can control via indoctrination or threat to stay in power. With power you can dictate anything you want..The days of slavery has not disappear but it has evolve into the new way master control the masses. It has become some what like religion. You just follow with any dissent dealt with mercilessly.
Entitlement is the problem.
Stop corporate and the 1% greed, and you address a lot of global issues.
Microsoft “it’s really about thinking on ecosystems”

the USA is already on course to irretrievably collapse. $5 trillion in tax receipts, $7 trillion in budget, $40 trillion in total debt. In addition insulting Europe, threatening to take over Greenland, Canada, Panama has made the allies to become our enemies, and they are realigning the economies to abandon the dollar. and they can do it without a problem. Specially, Europe and Canada, they will be joining together and the euro will be the new currency. Why don’t you tell people that?
CHINA !
How dense are you?!? We are tired of CORPORATE power over our government. Our elected officials don’t work for us. We want democracy with people power. You’re part of the problem.
The issue is that people can see democracy for the sham it is. The people with money get what they want and everyone else suffers.
