I’m so glad that this kind of ‘Welcoming Committee’ is no longer legal in this country. Although I certainly understand how Walter felt about the world he was born into and, why he was ready to accept that man’s money; I’m so glad he changed his mind and moved his family into that house. If it hadn’t been for men like him and, families like this one; the pale majority might never have learned to be any better than they were. We owe the darker complected people of our history; a great deal of thanks and gratitude for the decisions they made.

“IN MY MOTHER’S HOUSE THERE IS STILL GOD’”
Keeping a nonjudgmental attitude is the key to appreciation for this film. My take away comes from the biblical admonishment which tells us that when we love others unconditionally as the mother does her son, played by Sidney P., the greatest disappointment he renders can be transmuted and the relationship redeemed.
