A #Moment of #Solidarity @OfficialRichardPryor

This is a clip from the 1979 Live in Concert @richardpryor and the interesting thing about it is after he asked the “house people” to turn up the lights. This led to an often overlooked moment of #Solidarity that became a hushed undertone of his #Legacy which was #Unity

Today marked the first day of Kwanzaa, but before we speak on Umoja, we have to understand the fire that lit this tradition in the first place!

Kwanzaa was created as a cultural compass. If you can understand that, it serves as a year-end/new year reminder that Progress without Principles leads nowhere. It exists to add depth, not create competition. It asks us to pause at the end of the year and return to values that make community possible for the future.
#Sankofa

For seven days, we return to values that center around unity, community, creativity, responsibility, purpose, and faith.

It all begins with unity.

Day 1:
#Umoja means unity… in the family, the community, the nation, and the world.

Before we can build, create, or believe anything, we have to stand together behind Principles.

Umoja means unity.
Unity in the family.
Unity in the community.
Unity among people.
Unity in how we move forward together.

Before we talk about self-determination, we must first stand together.

Before we build, we must agree to build with one another.

Before we create, we must recognize that none of us do this alone.

Umoja reminds us that strength multiplies when it is shared.

Reminding us that progress is fragile without connection.

Remembering that community is not accidental, it is chosen.

Today is not about perfection.
It’s about alignment.

Today, we commit to unity in thought, word, and action.

Because when unity is present, everything else becomes possible.

This is Day 1.
This is Umoja.
And this is where the journey begins.
