We are now seeing in real-time seen how stupidity and actual fascism spearheaded by an incompetent can wreck a country’s softpower and global standing. Singapore gov did the right thing, and even their paranoia for survival is justified. The world is more fragile and volatile than anyone ever truly realises.
There are problems though like the fact that Singapore is uh how do I say it literally nothing without other countries like other countries can sustain themselves while Singapore cannot which is ok considering their size but uhh
Lee Kuan Yew (Prime Minister, 1959–1990), in a 1969 speech to the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce:
“But for the wisdom and foresight of the Englishman with whose name the history of modern Singapore will always be associated, your Chamber, you and I, all of us would not be here today.”
To simply say they were under British rule is one of the biggest understatements in the history of youtube. When Brtain negotiated control, it was a small fishing village of 1000 malays. Thats it. Britain created Singapore from nothing, not simply ruled it.

Singapore is one the biggest gambles in world history but in the end it was because of that gamble that it has came this far and became a role model.
